“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
JUNE - 2020

HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE A GREAT JULY 4TH DAY & WEEKEND & TAKE TIME TO PAY HONOR TO FAMILY, FRIENDS AND OUR VETERANS WHO HAVE DEFENDED OUR COUNTRY & FREEDOMS!
~The JUNE meeting was held Thursday 6/18/20 at 6:30PM at the Mulvane American Legion.
~We want everyone to decide for themselves when it is right to be out and attending meetings. We understand and look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks and months.
~A BIG Happy Birthday went out to Kevin Cardwell and Max Ayers.   Hope you guys had a great day and many more!!
~It was great to have 30 members, officers and guests present for the June meeting.
~Thanks to the American Legion Auxiliary for a GREAT Taco dinner.  It was very much appreciated.
~We had three (3) guests in attendance to share upcoming events.  Amanda Ford with the Mulvane Chamber of Commerce reminded the club of the upcoming July 4th parade. (UPDATE - THIS EVENT/PARADE HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO COVID 19).  Carol Irvine with Lil Deuce Scoop announced their car show event for Saturday, June 28.  And our own Sonya Jackson with the Kansas Star Casino gave a report on Showdown in the Valley.
~New member Ben Rees from Mulvane was introduced and welcomed into the club.  Over the last few months we have had a few new members join the Marauders.   Please take a minute to say hello to these new folks when they attend a meeting, introduce yourself and let them know we are glad to have them and that they have chosen to join our club.   I know we all get busy at a meeting and especially now, as we are glad to see our 'old' friends - but please take a moment and look around and welcome new folks that might be in attendance.
~Also welcome Troy & Kim Dewald to the club.  They have a 1959 Triumph Estate Wagon.  We look forward to meeting them and having them join in our events.
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report.  All is well and we continue to receive dues and expenses are taken care of.
PLEASE BE REMINDED - DUES ARE NOW DUE!!!  THIS IS A FRIENDLY REMINDER -- IF YOU HAVE PAID, YOUR CHECK IS IN THE MAIL OR YOU HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS, NO ACTION IS NECESSARY.  IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID YOUR CURRENT DUES, TAKE A MINUTE AND SEND A CHECK - PAYABLE TO MULVANE MARAUDERS, P. O. BOX 151, MULVANE KS 67110.  IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP, PLEASE LET STEVE KNOW SO WE CAN REMOVE YOUR NAME FROM THE CURRENT ROSTER AND WEBSITE.
~Club member Chris Middendorf reported that the Old Settlers Car Show is still on - at least for now.  It is scheduled for Saturday, 8/15/20!   Watch the newsletter and announcements for any changes to this show and others in the coming weeks.
~Steve Preston announced a car show on Father's Day at Bethel Church - all are welcome!
**During this time, be sure to check the website for upcoming shows & call to see if they are still being having their show & ask if they have any COVID19 requirements.
(New mandates & requirements are changing daily as we continue to see a spite in cases, so check with each show to ensure it is being held and what they require.  We will try to keep the website events page as current as we can.  IF you hear of a show that has been changed, postponed or canceled, please let us know!!)

~Please continue to take a moment to reach out to your fellow Marauders and let them know you are thinking of them and ensure they are doing okay during these difficult times with COVID 19.

~Thank you to Steve Nichols for all the announcements and updates.  As you all know - Showdown in the Valley is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2020.   Since these are such uncertain times and no one really knows what each day, week and month might bring - we will keep you posted as we move forward with that date.

~Hopefully we will never forget how much we missed our normal way of life when it returns - and - never take it all for granted.   As a Club we will continue to share and enjoy our hobby in addition to connecting with our communities and providing hope for those in need.  Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for our club and for our community.
You are a great club - - Stay safe - Wash your hands - Social Distance - and Take Care of yourself and others.

ON THE LIGHT SIDE smiley
*A guy went down the street to a 24-hour grocery store.  When he got there, the owner was locking the front door.  The guy said, "Hey, the sign says you're open 24 hours."  The owner said, "Yeah,  but not in a row!!"

*A young couple drove several miles down a country road, not saying a word to one another.  An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither wanted to concede their position.
As they passed by a barnyard of mules & pigs, the husband sarcastically asked, "Are they relative of yours?"
"Yes, " his wife replied.  "I married into the family!!"

*Lady to her doctor: "What I am worried about is my height and not my weight."
Doctor: Why your height???
Lady:  "According to my weight, my height should be 7 feet 8 inches!!!!!"

*The best & most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.
(Helen Keller)

*Sometimes I wish I was an octopus so I could hug 8 people at once. (With things the way they are right now, I wish I could hug just one person and all of you!)

*Thought for the day - Just like the Beatles sang in the 60's - "All You Need Is Love" (What would the world look like if we all practiced love! In a troubling time when the world seems to be in such a mess - Let us practice kindness & love, respect & understanding, be slow to anger and show an abundance of love & patience!)

*BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER & PRACTICE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS!!

*IF YOU HAVE A “CAR JOKE” (or any joke) OR A THOUGHT OF THE DAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE CLUB, PLEASE SEND IT TO CHERYL!   **Remember, it has to be ‘printable’!!!

NEXT MEETING WILL BE THURSDAY, JULY 16, 2020!

Thanks Marauders and “Keep Cruisin”
