WE LOOK FORWARD TO ANOTHER WONDERFUL YEAR WITH YOU AS WE ENJOY OUR HOBBY AND HELP OTHERS!!!
 

~Meeting was held Thursday, 11/19/15 and called to order at 7:00PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion and the December meeting was called to order at 7:15PM on Thursday, 12/17/15. 
~About 30 members and guests were present at the December meeting/Christmas Party.  Thank you for your support and participation at the meetings in 2015 and we look forward to great participation for 2016.
~No new members or guests were at the December meeting but a great big WELCOME BACK to Mel Boling.  What better Christmas gift than to have him and Carol join us for this meeting and party.  We missed you!!
~A thank you note was read from the Mulvane Children's Fund for the $500 the club donated to their organization.
~Steve Nichols gave the recent treasurer's report and we are doing great for this time of year.  However, we will have the expense of the website update and will be starting plans for the 18th Annual Showdown in the Valley.  We are still collecting money for the Marauders calendars that have been purchased by members.   If you have not picked up your calendar/s, please make arrangements with any officer to do that.   We would like to get them all distributed and the extras sold ASAP.   Be a great gift for family and friends. 
~Kasey McDowell attended the meeting and gave the club another update 'demo' on the new improved website. The club agreed and liked the front page improvement.  It will have music when complete.  Kasey advised they are still working on the animation.
It was suggested that perhaps we "sell advertisements" on our webpage and this would offset the website expenses now and in the future.  This suggestion will be re-visited at a later date when the site is up and running.  Kasey will work on that as well.  The plan for now is to kick off the new webpage in January.  We will keep you posted as we get closer to the kick off.
~Kevin advised that the English Park sign has now been set and installed but covered at this time.  We will do a more formal dedication at a later date and ask the Mulvane News folks to be present so they can do a story and take pictures for the paper.

 
NEW BUSINESS

~Members were advised that Mike Bardsby from the British Car Club had recently passed away.  Cheryl posted the club's sympathy at the Broadway Funeral Home online guestbook.
~Steve reminded members that there would be another breakfast on Saturday 12/19/15 at 8:30AM at Legion.  Another great opportunity to have a wonderful breakfast and fellowship with other members - especially for the holiday.  We hope to have another record breaking crowd so invite your family and friends.  It is $8.00 for adults! Please have the appropriate change as there is no cashier.  The American Legion truly appreciates our support and participation and we are thrilled to be able to meet and have our activities in the Legion building.  It is great for all of us.
~Cheryl reminded members of the upcoming Starbird-Devlin Show for January 15-17, 2016!  Pre-registration will end on January 4, 2016.  pre-registration is $30 - after 1/4/16 the fee increases to $45.  Time is of essence as the show is filling up quickly.  Let Cheryl know if you plan on entering - however, being on the Marauders list does not guarantee you a space with the club in the show.  You must get your application form, pictures and entry fee to the Starbird-Devlin show ASAP to guarantee a space with the club.   If you have specific questions about the show, please contact them direct. 
~Kevin reminded members that in the past the club has donated funds to Carl Fry and The ARC for the advocates to attend the Starbird car show.  The donated funds are used for transportation and a meal afterwards.   Jack Marinelli made a motion that the club donate $500 again this year for the ARC and the advocates.  Seconded by Gary Whitmore , motion passed.  Kevin and Steve will get the funds to Carl. 
~Starbird-Devlin show will still need a lot of volunteers to help with the show.  If you are interested or willing to volunteer, please contact Carl Fry.  
~We will start preparing for the Marauders Showdown in the Valley Car Show at the Kansas Star Casino.  As always, we need tons of help and member participation to make this a success like the 2015 show.  Please be thinking about YOUR part in those plans and how you can volunteer.   We need everyone's help with this great show!!

~THE NEXT MARAUDERS BREAKFAST WILL BE SATURDAY, 1/9/16, 8:30AM AT THE AMERICAN LEGION. 

~SAVE THE DATE -- WE HAVE CONFIRMED THE DATE FOR SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY AT THE KANSAS STAR CASINO. IT WILL BE SATURDAY - JUNE 18, 2016 - WHICH IS FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND.  IT WON'T BE LONG UNTIL WE BEGIN SOME PRELIMINARY COMMITTEE MEETINGS - BE READY TO VOLUNTEER AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT SHOW.  HOW ABOUT IF WE "DOUBLE" THE CAR COUNT????  

~With no further business, meeting was adjourned and we preceeded to have our annual Christmas Party and White Elephant Gift Exchange.  As always, it was great fun and there were some very interesting gifts - Harry Funke was absolutely overwhelmed with his Barry Manilow CD!!!!!!!!  Thanks to everyone who participated and was able to attend. 
   
NEXT MEETING IS THURSDAY, 1/21/16 - AT 7:00PM at the Mulvane American Legion.

ON THE LIGHT SIDE 

*Old Geezers Clinic............
An old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic.
He put a sign up outside that said, "Dr. Geezer's Clinic.  Get your treatment for $500.  If not cured, get back $1,000.
Dr. "Young", who was positive that this old geezer didn't know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get an easy $1,000.
So he went to Dr. Geezer's Clinic ............
Dr. Young - "Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth.  Can you please help me?"
Dr. Geezer - "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth."
Dr. Young - "AAAGH, this is gasoline!!"
Dr. Geezer - "Congratulations!!! You've got your taste back.  That will be $500."
Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple days figuring to recover his money.
Dr. Young - "I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything!!"
Dr. Geezer - "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient's mouth."
Dr. Young - "OH, no you don't - that is Gasoline!"
Dr. Geezer - "Congratulations!! You've got your memory back.  That will be $500."
Dr. Young (after having lost $1,000) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.
Dr. Young - "My eyesight has become weak --- I can hardly see anything."
Dr. Geezer - "WELL, I don't have any medicine for that so, "Here's your $1,000 back." -- (giving him a $10 bill)
Dr. Young - "But this is only $10????!!!!!!!!"
Dr. Geezer - "CONGRATULATIONS!!!  You have your vision back!!!!!  That will be $500.
MORAL OF THE STORY - Just because you are "Young" doesn't mean that you can outsmart an "OLD GEEZER!!!"
