“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
JANUARY & FEBRUARY - 2020
HAPPY NEW YEAR, HAPPY NEW DECADE & HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL OF THE MARAUDERS!!!!
~The JANUARY meeting was held Thursday 1/9/2020 at 6:30PM at the Mulvane American Legion.  Meeting was called to order by president Kevin Cardwell.  This meeting was moved to the second Thursday because of the 2020 Cars for Charity Car Show.  Diana and her team prepared another great meal for us prior to the meeting.  We appreciate their willingness to make our meetings extra special with a meal.  This is a great time to fellowship & get to know one another & new members.  If you see Diana and her team, please tell them thank you!
~About 30 officers, members and guests attended the meeting.
~Thanks for starting the year off great & supporting the club meetings & other activities - it's always great to see so many attend and participate in the meetings and the planning of club business & activities.  And a big thanks to members for supporting the Legion dinners.
~No additions or corrections from the December minutes.
~Steve Nichols gave the current treasurer's report.  All is well & not much has changed since the last meeting.  We have not paid certain obligations but they have been accounted for and we will be prepared to pay them.  Calendar payments continue to be received and paid.
~Club members were reminded about the Club Dinner and White Elephant Exchange in February.
~It was announced that Diana Nelson with the American Legion Post would be moving because of employment.  There will be a gathering to wish her well and say goodbye - in the meantime if you see her at the Legion please say THANK YOU for all she has done for our club and the wonderful dinners and breakfasts she has done for the Marauders.  We truly wish her well and hope she will be back soon!
~Next club breakfast will be Saturday, January 11 at 8:30AM at the American Legion.  Remember we need at least 30 people to ensure we can continue with this great activity.  Invite your family and friends, have a great breakfast and a special time of fellowship and fun.
~Steve Nichols announced that planning is now underway for Showdown in the Valley and committee meetings will start up in the next few weeks.
~Per an email from Cheryl - everyone who is attending Cars for Charity should have their instructions & paperwork by now.  If not, please contact Mike Rickords with the Show.  It will be a fun time.  Special showshirts will be handed out on Thursday as we enter.

~The FEBRUARY meeting was held Thursday, 2/20/20 at 6:30PM at the Mulvane American Legion.  Meeting was called to order by president Kevin Cardwell.  Thanks for attending and supporting the club!
~About 30 officers, members and guests attended the meeting.
~A warm welcome was extended to Max Ayers' friend Mark Randle of Topeka.
~No additions or corrections from the January minutes.
~Steve Nichols gave the current treasurer's report.  Club is beginning to receive show entries and vendor sponsor forms and fees.  If you have not picked up and/or paid for your club calendars, please contact Steve ASAP.  A few calendars are still available.  All is great!!
~Max Ayers spoke to the club about a movie being made in Cow Town that needs 6-10, 1915-1933 "original"looking cars to be used in the movie - "Death Alley".  If you have a car or know of someone else with this era car and are willing to put it in the movie, send a picture of it to Max at carshow66@cox.net
~Kevin introduced our special guest for the evening - Mark Little.  He spoke on Kansas Bill #2528.  This bill is the Kansas Antique Tag Law that is being discussed in Topeka.  The way Mark explained the current status of the Bill, this is something we should be in favor of.  Please see more information at
http://www.kansascarshow.com/kansas-antique-tags.html
*Mark suggested everyone go to https://actionnetwork.org/letters/kansas-antique-tag-law-house-bill?source=direct_link
This will allow you to send a letter to your State Representative.  The letter is very simple as it is a form letter that you can just send or edit and personalize & then send.  For those of you who were not at the meeting, the Bill as originally presented was to ease the requirement on antique vehicles.  To better inform yourself, please go to the link and read it for yourself.  You can also go to the Automobilia Facebook page and click on this link.(Steve had a difficult time finding the link & it did not work for him.  It only worked when he copied it and pasted it on Google.)
This is an important House Bill for car enthusiasts - please educate yourself on this issue and then let your representatives know your thoughts on this State of Kansas issue.
THANKS to Mark for attending our meeting and the good discussion on the HB #2528.
~Club Dinner and White Elephant Exchange was held Sunday 2/16/20 at the American Legion and was a great event.  Members, family and guests had great conversation, food and crazy white elephant gifts.  Pictures of the dinner event are on the website photo gallery - take a minute and check it out.  Pig In - Pig Out served delicious food and the desserts were wonderful as always.  Thanks to our members for making the Marauders Potluck Desserts a favorite part of our dinners.  Once again the 50/50 pot was fun and a few gift cards were given away.  Our next dinner will be early Fall.
~Next club breakfast is Saturday, 3/7/20 at the Mulvane American Legion from 8:30AM to 10:00AM.  Remember we need at least 30 members to attend breakfast to keep it going.  Adults are $8, 6-12 are $5 and 5 & under FREE!  This is our last breakfast before car show season begins.  Come out and have a great breakfast and even better fellowship with your club members.

~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones. The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason.  Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason.
