MULVANE MARAUDERS
OCTOBER - 2019

~The October meeting was held Thursday 10/17/19 and called to order at 6:30PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion.  Thanks to Diana and her team for another meal prior to the meeting.  We appreciate their willingness to make our other meetings extra special with a meal.  This is a great time to fellowship & get to know one another & new members.  If you see Diana and her team, please tell them thank you! 
~About 35 officers, members & guests attended the meeting. 
~Thanks for supporting the club meetings - it's always great to see so many attend and participate in the meetings and the planning of club business & activities.  And a big thanks to members for supporting the Legion dinners.
~No additions or corrections from the September minutes.
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report.  All is well & not much has changed since the last meeting.  We have not paid certain obligations but they have been accounted for and we will be prepared to pay them.  Calendar payments have already been received - thanks for paying early!  IF you have not paid your dues as of this date, please contact Steve or mail a check for $25 and payable to Mulvane Marauders to P. O. Box 151, Mulvane, KS 67110.  We will be finalizing the roster - so now is your chance to renew if you are still interested. 

~Cheryl announced that it is ONLY ABOUT 10 DAYS UNTIL KRUZ'N FOR KIDS - members were reminded of an addition to the 15th Annual Kruz'n for Kids event for 2019.  A generous couple has donated (2) Snap-On Tool Boxes - a red one for Kruz'n for Kids and a black one to Ron Wagoner & the Food Cruise in November.   These two events have decided to "raffle" these tool boxes.  These are very nice & expensive boxes and well worth the raflle ticket price of $10.00 per ticket.  Even if you have a big two-piece box, these boxes are great - sell your old one and use this new one if you are the lucky winner!!!  This is going to be a great addition to these events and the opportunity to raise additional funds for Toys for Tots and the Kansas Food Bank.   If you purchase a ticket - you do NOT need to be present to win.  I am inviting the Marauders to purchase a ticket and help me get the word out to others via social media, friends, family, neighbors and/or co-workers.   If you would like to purchase tickets or if you would be willing to take a few tickets to sell to friends, please contact Cheryl ASAP at 316-685-6590.  If you purchase one red and one blue ticket you double your chance of winning and help 2 great organizations & folks right here in your communities!   I would love to hear from you and would appreciate your help with this opportunity!!!   SEE YOU ON THE 27TH!!!
~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones. The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason.  Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason. 
~We have a few 2019 calendars left if you need additional copies.  Calendars are $5.00 each. 
~Members were reminded of upcoming events and car shows - be sure to check the Club Website, the Cruisin Calendar or the KEYN online Cruisin Calendar for upcoming shows and activities.  If you would like to be a ROAD CAPTAIN for any event, just let us know where & when you are leaving and we will let club members know so everyone can cruise together.  We are winding down the season - so get out and enjoy the few shows that are left.

**Upcoming shows include Haysville, 10/19,  Udall, 10/26,  Kruz'n for Kids, 10/27,  Food Cruise, 11/10,  VA Thank A Vet Show, immediately following the Food Cruise, 11/10 and Hobo Happenings, 11/23.
~SAVE THE DATE AT THE AMERICAN LEGION - 11/2/19 - Taco-Bout-A-Party!!  This will be a fun event and a benefit for the Kansas Honor Flight!

~We have new club shirts for $10.  If you need a shirt, please contact Steve Nichols or come to the next meeting.  If you would like to have a club shirt in a specific color or need a jacket or sweatshirt, contact Kevin Cardwell at Shirts Plus. 
~We have new black and white hats for $6 - let Steve Nichols know if you need a shirt or hat.

 
NEW BUSINESS
*CALENDER SHOOTS ARE DONE!!!!!   A HUGE Thank You to Don Heersche for being the Team Captain for the Calendar Project and to Steve Nichols for taking the photos.  Kevin and his team at work are putting the calendars photos & artwork together in the next couple of weeks and will then get it to Envision for printing.  We are still anticipating the calendars will be done by the November meeting.  We had a record number of cars participate - 45 - and could not have done this project without all of you!!! 
CALENDERS ARE $5.00 - IF YOU HAVE NOT ORDERED YOUR CALENDARS, PLEASE CONTACT CHERYL OR STEVE ASAP.  Orders will be placed in the next (2) weeks!!!!!  Great Christmas gifts for friends and family!!

~IMPORTANT DATE TO REMEMBER & SAVE:
SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 2020 AT THE KANSAS STAR CASINO!!!
*Contracts with the Kansas Star  and the Hampton have been signed - committe meetings will begin in the next few months.  Be thinking about how you can help & be ready to volunteer!   We need every member to make this great show even greater!!!!  WE NEED SPONSORS FOR 2020 - PLEASE BE THINKING ABOUT FRIENDS, FAMILY OR ANYONE YOU KNOW INCLUDING BUSINESSES - THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN GETTING INVOLVED WITH THE SHOW AS A MAJOR SPONSOR.  WE WOULD BE THRILLED TO HAVE NEW BUSINESSES JOIN US AS WELL - AS A SPONSOR AT ANY LEVEL.  If you need information on sponsorship - contact Steve Nichols for details.
**We all need to be thinking of ways to improve each show from year to year!  If you have an idea but you do not want to contact the person or business yourself, let us know and we will take care of it.

*It has been brought to our attention that the American Legion Post #136 is needing to repave the parking lot - this will be a big undertaking and cost about $60 - 70,000.  Legion members are working on fundraising ideas for this project and ask the club if they would be interested in helping.  Several ideas were mentioned including a car show at Post 136 some time in 2020.  Since the club show is in April 2020, it would have to be some time after that.  Barry Burchett made a motion that we help the Legion with a car show next year to help with the paving project,  motion passed.  This will be discussed in the coming months. 

*Next club dinner will be after the first of the year and the hustle & bustle of the holidays.  It will also be our "white elephant" exchange - be looking around the house and garage and save those "treasures" to share with someone else.
 
*It was announced another car club will be doing a car show at the Kansas Star Casino.  WAM - Wichita Area Mopars will be having their annual show at the Casino In June 2020.  This is not a show open to "all" cars - this is for Mopars only.  Should not interfere or have any effect on our Showdown in the Valley in April 2020.
 
*An email has been sent to Jay Leno - as an honorary member of the club - we are hoping he might consider donating a special item to the Marauders for us to use at our Show and attract participants. 

*Please keep members who are experiencing health issues and those recovering from health issues in your thoughts and prayers!  Also those who have recently lost family members.
 
*CLUB BREAKFAST - OUR CLUB BREAKFAST WILL BE SATURDAY - 11/2/19 - 8:30AM.  Adults - $8, 6-12 - $5 and kids 5 and under - Free!  MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND SAVE THE DATES!!  Please thank Diana and her team for these great get togethers - we look forward to them and is a great way to spend time with one another & support the American Legion.  Watch the newsletter & announcements for additional details.

~IF YOU KNOW OF A MEMBER THAT IS NOT GETTING NEWSLETTERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND/OR EMAILS...PLEASE HAVE THEM CONTACT US!  IN ORDER TO KEEP MEMBERS UP-TO-DATE ON CLUB BUSINESS AND EVENTS, WE NEED TO HAVE CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESSES.   IF YOU KNOW OF A MEMBER WHO DOES NOT HAVE EMAIL, PLEASE TRY TO "BUDDY" WITH THAT MEMBER & HELP KEEP THEM INFORMED ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON.  THANKS FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS REQUEST!!

*MEMBERS - UPDATE WEBSITE -- HAVE YOU UPDATED YOUR INFORMATION AND/OR PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE RECENTLY???  Take a few minutes, log in & update your profile.  It's easy - just logon webpage, go to the bottom right corner, put in your email address and password.  If you don't remember your password just send Steve Nichols an email and he will send you a new one so you can complete this update.  If you have a problem updating or adding a photo of your car, contact Steve for assistance.  Kasey - our webmaster - has made some new improvements that will allow members to add or edit pictures of their cars on the website.  If you are still having issues, please contact Steve and he can walk you through the process. 
*ALSO - if you have an ad on the webpage and it is not longer valid, PLEASE delete it.  If you can't do that, let us know and we will delete it for you.

~2018 WAS THE CLUB'S 60TH BIRTHDAY - 1958-2018 - "60 YEARS & STILL CRUISIIN"!!   LET'S CONTINUE THE LEGACY AS WE "CRUISE" IN 2019!!!

~Please continue to check the website club events section for upcoming events & club activities.  If you need an event posted, please contact Cheryl or Steve.   The website calendar has been udated with all the events that we are aware of so far.  If you know of additional events, please let us know and we will be glad to list them for you.
 
~If there is something you would like to see in the newsletter or have ideas for outings and/or events - please let us hear from you!  If you are interested in being the Road Captain for a show or event, please let us know & we will post it.

******NOVEMBER MEETING IS CANCELLED - SOME CLUB MEMBERS WILL BE VOLUNTEERING AT THE F.R.O.G. DINER IN MULVANE.  This will be a great opportunity for the club to be out in the community and give the faithful staff at the church a "night off"!!!  If you signed up to help at the meeting - please meet at the church.

*We have several members experiencing health issues, back problems and other concerns and some recovering from surgery.  Please keep our Marauders Family in your thoughts and continued prayers.
*Please remember Ed Johnson's wife, Rita, in your thoughts and prayers as she is recovering from some health issues but home from the hospital and feeling much better.
*Keep Barry Burchett and family in your thoughts and prayers in the recent loss of his brother.
*Please remember Harold Hills' wife, Marsha, in your prayers as she is recovering from recent back problems & surgery.
*Steve Preston has had some health issues and has been in the hospital.  Please keep Steve and his wife Becky in your prayers as he recovers from his recent illness.
*Remember Ron Cummings as he continues to recover from recent surgery.

The Marauders Family cares about all members and it is our desire to support each and every one.

We need to continuously lift up all our members and celebrate their joys and always be there for those needing our support.
