FROM THE MULVANE MARAUDERS SEPTEMBER - 2019 ~The September meeting was held Thursday 9/19/19 and called to order at 6:30PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion. Thanks to Diana and her team for another meal prior to the meeting. We appreciate their willingness to make our other meetings extra special with a meal. This is a great time to fellowship & get to know one another & new members. If you see Diana and her team, please tell them thank you! ~About 40 officers, members & guests attended the meeting. ~A warm welcome was extended to guest Scott Helmke with the Kansas Lions organization. He spoke to the club about the Lions mission of helping others who have lost their eyesight and those that they care for through exams, glasses and other assistance. He explained a new mission of the National President of the Lions and their "specialty car groups"!! He was seeking interest in this specialty car group from other local clubs including the Marauders. ~Thanks for supporting the club meetings - it's always great to see so many attend and participate in the meetings and the planning of club business & activities. And a big thanks to members for supporting the Legion dinners. ~No additions or corrections from the August minutes. ~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report. All is well & not much has changed since the last meeting. We have not paid certain obligations but they have been accounted for and we will be prepared to pay them. Most all dues have been received - IF you have not paid or are unsure if you have done so, please check the website to see if you have been marked paid or contact Steve Nichols. IF you have not paid, please mail a check for $25 and payable to Mulvane Marauders to P. O. Box 151, Mulvane, KS 67110. We will be finalizing the roster - so now is your chance to renew if you are still interested. ~Thanks to member Dale Heckman and his friend Jim Tatman and member George Leach and his friend Tom Thomas for volunteering to participate in the Kansas Honor Flight Golf Tournament MaraudersTeam. This is a 'comped' team and there is no expense to those on the team. This opportunity is due to our donation to Kansas Honor Flight. The Marauders Team will be playing at Sand Creek Station in Newton. The event is Monday, September 30, 2019! Thanks members and friends for representing our club in this great event. **UPDATE ON GOLF TOURNAMENT - THE MARAUDERS TEAM OF DALE, JIM, GEORGE & TOM HAD A GOOD TIME AT THE TOURNAMENT. IT WAS GREAT TO HAVE A CLUB TEAM PARTICIPATE - I DON'T THINK THEY WON, BUT HOPEFULLY HAD A GREAT TIME AND ENJOYED BREAKFAST & LUNCH. THANK YOU TEAM!!! ~Cheryl announced that it is ONLY ABOUT 6 WEEKS UNTIL KRUZ'N FOR KIDS - Cheryl reminded members of an addition to the 15th Annual Kruz'n for Kids event for 2019. A generous couple has donated (2) Snap-On Tool Boxes - a red one for Kruz'n for Kids and a black one to Ron Wagoner & the Food Cruise in November. These two events have decided to "raffle" these tool boxes. These are very nice & expensive boxes and well worth the raflle ticket price of $10.00 per ticket. Even if you have a big two-piece box, these boxes are great - sell your old one and use this new one if you are the lucky winner!!! This is going to be a great addition to these events and the opportunity to raise additional funds for Toys for Tots and the Kansas Food Bank. If you purchase a ticket - you do NOT need to be present to win. I am inviting the Marauders to purchase a ticket and help me get the word out to others via social media, friends, family, neighbors and/or co-workers. If you would like to purchase tickets or if you would be willing to take a few tickets to sell to friends, please contact Cheryl ASAP at 316-685-6590. If you purchase one red and one blue ticket you double your chance of winning and help 2 great organizations & folks right here in your communities! I would love to hear from you and would appreciate your help with this opportunity!!! ~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones. The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason. Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason. ~We have a few 2019 calendars left if you need additional copies. Calendars are $5.00 each. ~Members were reminded of upcoming events and car shows - be sure to check the Club Website, the Cruisin Calendar or the KEYN online Cruisin Calendar for upcoming shows and activities. If you would like to be a ROAD CAPTAIN for any event, just let us know where & when you are leaving and we will let club members know so everyone can cruise together. **There are many opportunities for you to get out and show off your ride and enjoy a car show - including Anthony Middendorf's Cruisin for Camp in Mulvane on 9/28/19; Jabara Airport Show and Fly-In on 9/28/19; VA Show, Benefit Show for Pressley, Cars for the Cause and Last Run in Ark City. CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR THESE AND OTHERS!! ~Club members were reminded of the Marauders Club Picnic on Sunday 9/22/19 at 1PM at the American Legion. It's going to be a fun dinner and we will be doing a 50/50 pot and have some door prize drawings for gift cards. And don't forget the "Potluck Dessert"! This is always a fun time for members and a chance to catch up and fellowship with one another. ALWAYS CHECK OUT THE "REVVIN' IT UP" SECTION OF THE NEWSLETTER FOR UPDATES! Several shows were mentioned - all can be found on the Marauders Website under "Club Events". ~We have new club shirts for $10. If you need a shirt, please contact Steve Nichols or come to the next meeting. If you would like to have a club shirt in a specific color or need a jacket or sweatshirt, contact Kevin Cardwell at Shirts Plus. ~We have new black and white hats for $6 - let Steve Nichols know if you need a shirt or hat. *UPDATE - The Marauders Dinner was a great success on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the American Legion.
Thanks to Diana and her team for a fantastic "Picnic Dinner" - burgers, a hot dog bar with all the trimmings for several different kinds of hot dogs, great sides and of course the Marauders Potluck Dessert. What a wonderful day and time to have fun, food and fellowship! We have about 80 members, family and guests attend. We had a drawing for gift cards and a great 50/50 pot won by .................. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT & ATTENDANCE. WE WILL BE PLANNING OUR NEXT DINNER & WHITE ELEPHANT EXCHANGE SOMETIME AFTER THE HOLIDAYS WHEN FOLKS ARE QUITE SO BUSY - LIKE LAST YEAR!! Gives us something to look forward to after the hustle & bustle of the holiday season. *The Fitzmier Family BBQ Rib Cook Off & Car Show was a huge success and the Kansas Honor Flight will benefit from this great event. Didn't have many cars for the car show, but it was a fun day. They plan on doing it again next year and hopefully more cars will attend *Kevin discussed the annual Cruisin Calendar ad with the club - it is time to pay for the ad for Showdown 2020!! A half page ad is $500 and the quarter page ad is $350 - both options will be given a 10% discount if we pay prior to November 1. After considerable discussion - a motion was made by Ron Bailey that we would purchase a quarter page ad (down from a half page ad in 2019) for next year's show. Seconded by Harry Funke - motion passed. *Kevin will visit with the folks at the F.R.O.G. Diner at the Methodist Church about some dates for the Marauders to work a Thursday night serving dinner to those who need a meal and fellowship. Would be nice to give these faithful workers a Thursday night off. Kevin will be checking with the church to see when the club might be able to serve a Thursday night dinner & give the church volunteers a break for one week. This will be a fun time to show others that we continue to serve our communities in all kinds of actitives & events! Plus a fun time to be together as we reach out to others. Approximately 200 people are served most weeks - there will be opportunities to bus tables, serve, do dishes and clean up. We will try to pick a date at the October meeting!! *WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF DOING OUR MARAUDERS CALENDAR FOR 2020! **A HUGE Thank You to Don Heersche for being the Team Captain for the Calendar Project. We will be scheduling photo shoots very soon so we can have photos complete and all information to Envision for printing so we can have the calendars available by the November meeting. They make fun Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers for family & friends. **In order to assist Don with this process, we quickly took a poll of those members & cars that would be willing to take photos at our sponsors' businesses or location of choice. This is not set in stone and there may be changes for each shoot. **WE HAVE MEMBERS WILLING TO BRING THEIR CARS TO A PHOTO SHOOT - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO HELP WITH THESE SHOOT. WE HAVE MEMBERS SIGNED UP FOR THE PHOTO SHOOTS - THANKS TO ALL WHO VOLUNTEERED FOR SPECIFIC SHOOTS AT THE MEETING. DON HEERSCHE & HIS TEAM WILL BE CONTACTING YOU WITH A DATE & TIME IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO. **IF YOU WANT TO ORDER CALENDARS - PLEASE CONTACT CHERYL OR STEVE. **If you signed up for a photo shoot and you have not received a call about a shoot/location - please contact Steve Nichols or Don Heersche. This is a fun and most worthwhile project & provides additional funds for the club and our charities! **IF YOU HAVE NOT ORDERED CALENDARS - PLEASE CONTACT CHERYL OR STEVE AS WE WILL BE FINALIZING THE ORDER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. ~IMPORTANT DATE TO REMEMBER & SAVE: SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 2020 AT THE KANSAS STAR CASINO!!! *Contracts with the Kansas Star and the Hampton have been signed - committe meetings will begin in the next few months. Be thinking about how you can help & be ready to volunteer! We need every member to make this great show even greater!!!! WE NEED SPONSORS FOR 2020 - PLEASE BE THINKING ABOUT FRIENDS, FAMILY OR ANYONE YOU KNOW INCLUDING BUSINESSES - THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN GETTING INVOLVED WITH THE SHOW AS A MAJOR SPONSOR. WE WOULD BE THRILLED TO HAVE NEW BUSINESSES JOIN US AS WELL - AS A SPONSOR AT ANY LEVEL. If you need information on sponsorship - contact Steve Nichols for details. **We all need to be thinking of ways to improve each show from year to year! If you have an idea but you do not want to contact the person or business yourself, let us know and we will take care of it. *The Club dinner will be Sunday, 9/22/19 at 1:00PM at the American Legion. AS OF THE MEETING WE HAVE ABOUT 70 MEMBERS SIGNED UP FOR THE DINNER. Friends and family are invited to attend for $5.00 each. Meal will be provided by the club - all we ask is that you bring your favorite treat for our famous "Potluck Desserts"! We will be serving a "Summer Picnic" with hamburgers, brats, hot dogs with all the trimmings and a couple of "picnic" sides. We look forward to another fun time of a great meal & fellowship. IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP YOU NEED TO CONTACT STEVE OR CHERYL - RSVP IS NOW DUE. *It was announced another car club will be doing a car show at the Kansas Star Casino. WAM - Wichita Area Mopars will be having their annual show at the Casino In June 2020. This is not a show open to "all" cars - this is for Mopars only. Should not interfere or have any effect on our Showdown in the Valley in April 2020. *An email was sent to Jay Leno - as an honorary member of the club - we are hoping he might consider donating a special item to the Marauders for us to use at our Show and attract participants. *Please keep members who are experiencing health issues and those recovering from health issues in your thoughts and prayers! Also those who have recently lost family members. *CLUB BREAKFAST - We will resume our monthly breakfasts in November. First (2) breakfasts will be November 2 and December 7. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND SAVE THE DATES!! Please thank Diana and her team for these great get togethers - we look forward to them and is a great way to spend time with one another & support the American Legion. *MEMBERS - UPDATE WEBSITE -- HAVE YOU UPDATED YOUR INFORMATION AND/OR PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE RECENTLY??? Take a few minutes, log in & update your profile. It's easy - just logon webpage, go to the bottom right corner, put in your email address and password. If you don't remember your password just send Steve Nichols an email and he will send you a new one so you can complete this update. If you have a problem updating or adding a photo of your car, contact Steve for assistance. Kasey - our webmaster - has made some new improvements that will allow members to add or edit pictures of their cars on the website. If you are still having issues, please contact Steve and he can walk you through the process. *ALSO - if you have an ad on the webpage and it is not longer valid, PLEASE delete it. If you can't do that, let us know and we will delete it for you. ~2018 WAS THE CLUB'S 60TH BIRTHDAY - 1958-2018 - "60 YEARS & STILL CRUISIIN"!! LET'S CONTINUE THE LEGACY AS WE "CRUISE" IN 2019!!! ~Please continue to check the website club events section for upcoming events & club activities. If you need an event posted, please contact Cheryl or Steve. The website calendar has been udated with all the events that we are aware of so far. If you know of additional events, please let us know and we will be glad to list them for you. ~If there is something you would like to see in the newsletter or have ideas for outings and/or events - please let us hear from you! If you are interested in being the Road Captain for a show or event, please let us know & we will post it.

*We have several members experiencing health issues, back problems and other concerns and some recovering from surgery. Please keep our Marauders Family in your thoughts and continued prayers.
*Please remember Ed Johnson's wife, Rita, in your thoughts and prayers as she is recovering from some health issues but home from the hospital and feeling much better. *Keep Barry Burchett and family in your thoughts and prayers in the recent loss of his brother. *Please remember Harold Hills' wife, Marsha, in your prayers as she is recovering from recent back problems & surgery. *Steve Preston has had some health issues and has been in the hospital. Please keep Steve and his wife Becky in your prayers as he recovers from his recent illness. *Remember Ron Cummings as he continues to recover from recent surgery. The Marauders Family cares about all members and it is our desire to support each and every one. **Give these folks a call and let them know you are thinking of them and/or send a card!!! We need to continuously lift up all our members and celebrate their joys and always be there for those needing our support.
