“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
JULY - 2019

~The July meeting was held Thursday 7/18/19 and called to order at 6:30PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion. Everyone enjoyed the meal at the Legion prior to the meeting.  We are grateful for Diana and her team and appreciate their willingness to make our meetings extra special with a meal.  This is a great time to fellowship & get to know one another & new members.  If you see Diana and her team, please tell them thank you!
~About 40 officers, members & guests attended the meeting.
~A warm welcome was extended to new members Dave & Beth Oliphant and their several cars/trucks.   We are glad to have you & look forward to getting to know you!!
~Thanks for supporting the club meetings - it's always great to see so many attend and participate in the meetings and the planning of club business & activities.  And a big thanks to members for supporting the dinners.
~No additions or corrections from the June minutes.
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report.  All is well & we are in a good place financially since distribution to our charities.  We have not paid certain obligations but they have been accounted for and we will be prepared to pay them.   We continue to receive dues - as of this writing, about 30 members have not renewed their dues.  If you are unsure if you have paid, please contact Steve Nichols or check the website to see if you have been marked as paid.  You can pay at the next club meeting 8/15/19 or mail a check for $25 and payable to Mulvane Marauders to P. O. Box 151, Mulvane, KS 67110.
~Cheryl thanked the club for their faithful support of the USMC Toys for Tots program and for another very generous & wonderful donation.  The check for Toys for Tots will be presented to the Marines at the 15th Annual Kruz'n for Kids Charity Car Cruise on Sunday, October 27, 2019!  Mark your calendars & SAVE THE DATE!!  This donation will help provide toys for children in our communities and ensure they have a bright & merry holiday and confirm they are loved and cared about.  Another great example of Marauders doing what they do best - helping, caring & serving others!
~Cheryl announced that club member Bruce Moran was helping Bubba's 33 Restaurant with a car cruise-in/show on Sunday, 8/11/19.   Also - the 7th Annual AG Ace Hardware Benefit Car Show (for CMN) on Saturday, 7/20 and the Beauties & Beasts Show on Sunday 8/21/19 at Twister City - the show benefits this animal rescue group.
~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones.  The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason.  Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason.
~We have a few 2019 calendars left if you need additional copies.  Calendars are $5.00 each.  Once again, this was a great project and will provide additional funds for us to be able to help other charities.
~Members were reminded of upcoming events and car shows - be sure to check the club website, the Cruisin Calendar or the KEYN online Cruisin Calendar for upcoming shows and activities.  If you would like to be a ROAD CAPTAIN for any event, just let us know where & when you are leaving and we will let club members know so everyone can cruise together.
~Club members were reminded of the Mulvane Old Settlers Rod Run which will be held Saturday, 8/17/19 In Mulvane at St. Michael's Catholic Church parking lot.  Member Chris Middendorf has put on this show for more years than he can remember and welcomes all members to participate.  Starts at 8AM and done by 2:30PM.  Contact Chris at 316-992-1815 for details.
ALWAYS CHECK OUT THE "REVVIN' IT UP" SECTION OF THE NEWSLETTER FOR UPDATES!
Several shows were mentioned - all can be found on the Marauders Website under "Club Events".
~We have new club shirts for $10.  If you need a shirt, please contact Steve Nichols or come to the next meeting.  If you would like to have a club shirt in a specific color or need a jacket or sweatshirt, contact Kevin Cardwell at Shirts Plus.
~We have new black and white hats for $6 - let Steve Nichols know if you need a shirt or hat.

NEW BUSINESS
*Kevin announced that during the Mulvane Old Settlers event, several of our members will be having an Old Geezer's Advice Booth!  We can all only imagine where and how this will go!  They are club members but will not be doing this on behalf of the club!   It will be fun and the booth will be staffed on Friday & Saturday - so if you need some "advice", this booth is for you!  I'm sure they will have some stories to tell and share - and we hope they make us all proud!!!!

*OFFICER ELECTIONS -  Nominations were opened to the club - after brief discussions and no additional nominations - motions were made & seconded to maintain each current officer for another year.  Motions passed and officers will remain the same for 2019 - 2020:
President - Kevin Cardwell
Vice-President - Harry Funke
Treasurer - Steve Nichols
Secretary - Cheryl Boyes
As Steve said - we hope it's Congratulations and not condolences!!!!  Please know this is YOUR club, these 4 officers only try to guide and direct - if you have suggestions, questions or concerns, never hesitate to contact an officer.
Thank you for for your vote of confidence - we are glad to be able to serve this great club for another year!

~Kevin announced an opportunity for the club to help a family in need!!  The Stephanie & Jeff Hoag family is suffering a major health crisis - friends and family of the couple are doing a fundraiser at the Mulvane Old Settlers event to benefit & help the family.  They will be having a 'Corn Hole Tournament'.  Boards are being built for the event and family & friends can sponsor a set of boards which will include logos and/or names.  Kevin suggested the Marauders sponsor boards for this event in the amount of $300 - the boards will have our logo.  There will be 30 boards and each set will be auctioned or put up for sale after the event to provide additional funds for the family's medical expenses.  A motion was made by Max Ayers and seconded by Danny Boyes that the club sponsor one set of boards for $300 to help this family in need.  There were several suggestions about the club buying back our boards and doing a raffle for the Marauders Corn Hole Boards at Showdown or our club picnic!  Be sure to stop by this fundraiser at Old Settlers and see the Maruaders Club boards - held from noon to 9PM on Saturday of Old Settlers.

*WE ARE GOING TO DO ANOTHER MARAUDERS CALENDAR FOR 2020!  Steve Nichols will contact all last year's sponsors/advertisers about joining us again for the new calendar.  After we have heard from them, we will open up advertising space to new folks.  We feel confident most will renew their spaces/months.
**We would like to start photos by September 1st so we can have photos complete and all information to Envision for printing so we can have the calendars available by the November meeting.  They make fun Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers for family & friends.
**WE NEED HELP!!!!   IF YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP SCHEDULE/ARRANGE PHOTO SHOOTS, PLEASE LET US HEAR FROM YOU - WE NEED LOTS OF HELP TO GET THIS ACCOMPLISHED.
**IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PUT YOUR CAR IN A PHOTO SHOOT - PLEASE CONTACT STEVE NICHOLS OR CHERYL BOYES.   This is a fun and most worthwhile project & provides additional funds!   WE NEED YOU!!

*The next club dinner will be Sunday, 9/22/19 at 1:00PM at the American Legion.  MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND SAVE THE DATE !!  Meal will be provided by the club - all we ask is that you bring your favorite treat for our famous "Potluck Desserts"!  We will have a sign up list in August.  After some discussion about the menu - a motion was made by Jerry Fletcher & seconded by Robin Gunter that we do a "Summer Picnic" with hamburgers, brats, hot dogs with all the trimmings and a couple of "picnic" sides.  Motion passed.  We look forward to another fun time of a great meal & fellowship.

*Since we donate regularly to the F.R.O.G. Diner at the Mulvane 1st United Methodist Church - Kevin suggested that the club consider getting a volunteer team together and going to the Diner to serve on one of their Thursday night dinners for all those who need a place to go and have a meal.  Kevin will find out how many volunteers they would need and discuss a schedule with them so we can sign up.  We will be discussing this opportunity at a future meeting.

*The club still has a few 2019 Cruisin Calendars.  Steve will bring them to the next meeting if you need one.
