“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
MAY - 2019

~The May meeting was held Thursday 5/16/19 and called to order at 6:30PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion. Once again there was a meal at the Legion prior to the meeting.  We are grateful for Diana and her team and appreciate all their hard work & willingness to make our meetings extra special with a meal so we can visit & fellowship with one another.  If you see Diana and her team, please tell them thank you!
~Thank you to Vice President Harry Funke for taking minutes at the meeting in absence of Cheryl Boyes who was attending a graduation event.   It is much appreciated!
~About 36 officers, members & guests attended the meeting.  New members Mike & Margaret Lefferty were introduced to the club.  They have a 1970 Chevelle and have already been participating with the club and area car shows.  Welcome - we are glad to have new folks and look forward to getting to know them.  We are always glad to have guests & meet new members!
~Thanks for supporting the meetings - it's always great to see so many attend and participate in the meetings and the planning of club activities & business.
~No additions or corrections from the April minutes.
~Carol and Amanda with Lil' Deuce Scoop announced their upcoming Birthday Bash Car Show in Mulvane on June 30, 2019.
~Kevin announced that the Motor'n TV videos of our 2019 car show are on UTube.  There was considerable discussion concerning the videos and whether the club was interested in purchasing the video/CD's.  Members were encouraged to view the video and we will discuss at a later date.  The cost to purchase would be $500.  We will address this again at another meeting.
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report.  After all deposits and disbursements and most all expenses for the show, we are doing great.  Financial details of the show were discussed.  Members were reminded that we did make more money this year than last year's show but some expenses were more than the 2018 show.  If you missed the May meeting and these details, we would be glad to share them with you at the June meeting.  Several ideas were discussed for possible other charities and/or organizations that we could possibly support in the future.  One of those possibilities was a project with Mulvane High School.  Specifics are being researched and will be tabled until a future meeting.
If you want to know the details, please attend the June meeting.  Financial details will not be distributed via the newsletter.
~We will be presenting our checks/donations to our designated charities at the June 20 meeting.  This is a very special time to visit with representatives of our charities as they accept our donations.  Please mark your calendar and join us for this special presentation and meeting!!!
~Kevin suggested and presented to the club that we keep our charity donations the same as 2018 with the proceeds of our 2019 show with the exception of Blue Sky Ranch.  Motion was made and passed.  Donation to Blue Sky Ranch may be discussed at a later date.  Specific amounts to our charities will be available at the June meeting if you did not attend the May meeting.  The designated charities are - Kansas Honor Flight, Toys for Tots, FROG Diner at Methodist Church in Mulvane, Mulvane Childrens Fund, Mulvane High School and a rock for a Mulvane Park.
~Kevin shared that all park signs that the club had previously sponsored are in place.  He will get with the city to decide on our next project and/or sign.
~Please remember the concerns of the club and those experiencing health issues and those who have recently lost loved ones.  The Marauders Club is a "family" and we want to ensure we reach out to those in need whatever the reason.  Please let Cheryl know if you know of a member that needs a card for any reason.
~We have about 10 calendars left after the show if you need additional copies.  Calendars are $5.00 each.  Once again, this was a great project and will provide additional funds for us to be able to help other charities.  Thanks to all who participated with us.   Members were asked to think about sponsors for the calendar project and we will revisit this possibility at a future meeting.
~Members were reminded of upcoming events and car shows - be sure to check the club website, the Cruisin Calendar or the KEYN online Cruisin Calendar for upcoming shows and activities.  If you would like to be a ROAD CAPTAIN for any event, just let us know where & when you are leaving and we will let club members know so everyone can cruise together.  Car Show season is just weeks away - the new Cruisin' Calendar 2019 is available - and the club has some if you need one.  You can pick up one at a meeting.

*The club has rented our new Storage space at a local storage company in Mulvane.  We are in the process of getting all items collected.  We will inventory everything, put up some shelves and get it all organized & moved to the new space.  This way all items will be centrally located and the officers would have access to the keys.

*One day, a housework challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt.  Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to his wife, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?"
"It depends, she replied.  "What does it say on your shirt?"
He yelled back, "Wichita State."

*It is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.
