“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
NOVEMBER - 2018

~The NOVEMBER meeting was held Thursday 11/15/18 and called to order at 6:30PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion.  Thanks to Diana's team for the dinner prior to the meeting.  We appreciate all their hard work to make our meetings extra special with a meal so we can visit & fellowship with one another.
~Thank you to Steve Nichols for taking minutes in absence of secretary Cheryl Boyes who was attending a toy drive and dinner.
~About 35 officers, members & guests attended the meeting.
~Thanks for supporting the meetings - it's always great to see so many attend and participate.
~No additions or corrections from the October minutes.
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report including bills paid & deposits.  Our balance is good - only outstanding bill is for the (2) city park rock signs.  After all the disbursements - all is well!!
~Kevin read a thank you note from Kruz'n for Kids and Cheryl Boyes for the club's generous donation to Toys for Tots and for members supporting the event on Sunday October 28, 2018.  It was a very successful event and many children in our communities will benefit from the generosity of the Marauders donation.  Thank you to a wonderful & compassionate club for turning Christmas wishes into Christmas miracles and smiles for so many children in our community.
~Steve announced that most all calendars had been picked up and paid for.  If you have not picked up your calendar order you can do so by making arrangements with Steve Nichols ASAP.   If you can't remember if you ordered calendars, contact Steve and he can update you on the order list and/or if you have paid.  Once again, this was a great project and will provide additional funds for us to be able to help other charities.  It was discussed that perhaps next year we make 2 calendars since so many have show an interest in being a sponsor.  Members were asked to think about sponsors for the calendar project and we will revisit this possibility at the March 2019 meeting.
~Members were reminded of upcoming events and car shows - be sure to check the club website, the Cruisin Calendar or the KEYN online Cruisin Calendar for upcoming shows and activities.  If you would like to be a ROAD CAPTAIN for any event, just let us know where & when you are leaving and we will let club members know so everyone can cruise together.  Car Show season is complete for this season but be watching for the new Cruisin' Calendar 2019 at the Cars for Charity Show and other businesses where they will be available.
ALWAYS CHECK OUT THE "REVVIN' IT UP" SECTION OF THE NEWSLETTER FOR UPDATES!!
*Hobo Happenings in Douglass 11/17/18 and Cars for Charities Show in January.
*As of this date, we only have 12 entries - we hope a few more members will consider participating with the club at the show.   Tom Sparkman made a motion to donate $500 to the show, seconded by Earl Gartrell, motion passed.  Everyone was asked to  think of a theme for special shirts for the show and we will discuss at the December meeting.
~Kevin presented a request for a $100 donation to the Mulvane Community Christmas Dinner.  Earl Gartrell made a motion and seconded by Doug Horstman, motion passed to donate these funds to the Mulvane event.  All members are invited to attend the meal on December 2nd from noon to 1:30PM at St. Michael's Church Hall and is free!
~Kevin announced that Bumper to Bumper will be a Corporate sponsor once again this year for Showdown in the Valley.  Everyone was asked to try and get additional sponsors for the show.  We will be having planning meetings for the next Showdown after the first of the year.  A huge THANK YOU to Bumper to Bumper for their continued support and sponorship of our show.
~Steve was contacted by Troy Batson, who puts on the Hutchinson Swap Meet, about perhaps joining our show with his annual Swap Meet and moving it from Hutchinson to the Casino in conjunction with our show.  After considerable discussion it was decided that since his show is for profit, the club did not feel that it would be a good fit and right to have a for profit event with our non-profit event.   A motion was made by Doug Horstman and seconded by Steve Dale to leave the show the way it is and decline this request to include the swap meet with our show.

~We have new club shirts for $10 and Showdown in the Valley event shirts are available - limited sizes.  If you need a shirt, please contact Steve Nichols or come to the next meeting.

ON THE LIGHT SIDE smiley
*'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house - everyone was on their cell phones!!!

*At 1AM, the police stopped an old man in questinable condition.
"What are doing out so late, sir?" the police officer asked the impaired man.
"I'm going to a seminar on the harmful effects of alcohol," the man replied.
"Right," the officer said sarcastically.  "Who would hold a seminar like that at this hour of the morning?"
The man sighed, "My wife!"

*A young son says to his mom, "You can delete the train set I put on my Christmas Wish List!"
The mom replies, "Why is that?"
The son says, "Because yesterday I found one in the closet!"

*Life is a series of thousands of tiny miracles!  Notice them!!!!

*Thought for the day -  Spending today complaining about yesterday won't make tomorrow any better!

*BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER & PRACTICE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS!!
