~MAY meeting was held, 5/17/18 and called to order at 6:30PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion.   Thanks to Diane and her team for a great taco bar prior to the meeting.  We appreciate all her hard work to make our meetings extra special with a meal so we can visit & fellowship with one another before the meeting.
~About 48 officers, members & guests attended the May meeting.
~No additions or corrections from the March meeting minutes.  There were no minutes for the April meeting from the Casino.
~Please WELCOME NEW MEMBERS TO THE CLUB - Richard & Connie Craft of Maize, Dennis & Judy Wilkinson of Winfield. Curtis & Tamara Carter of Mulvane and Frank & Susan Provanzano.  We are happy to have these new folks - be sure to introduce yourself to them & we look forward to having them participate with us as we enjoy our hobby & give back to our communities.  We were glad to have Frank Provanzano at the meeting so we could officially welcome him to the club.
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report including bills paid & several deposits and remaining expenses for our show.
Our balance is looking great, but remember - we have yet made donations to our charities and final expenses.  Dues are now due so we will also be receiving those funds as well.  Steve gave a breakdown on the financials - if you want to know specific details on those 'numbers', please contact him or come to the June meeting and we will be glad to share that information with you.
~Guest Trena Bradley shared about the Derby Farmers Market and their upcoming car show on 6/30/18 - car show will be from 8AM - Noon.  The Market is located at 512 E. Madison and will be there every Saturday, May through September from 7AM to Noon.
~Kevin introduced our special guests from the Kansas Star Casino - Sonya and Amanda - they were presented thank you cards, gift certificates & t-shirts for their faithful support of the show and all they do for us to prepare for it.  Gifts were given to Sonya for Lori and Levi who were unable to attend the meeting.
~Kevin reminded members of upcoming events and car shows - be sure to check the club website, the Cruisin Calendar and KEYN's Cruisin Calendar for all the latest shows in the area.  Pick one and enjoy!
~One event that was brought to our attention - the club has been invited to support & attend - Car Show & Movie presented by KFDI & FOX 104 - they will be having a car show in front of the Orpheum Theater in downtown Wichita.  There is room for about 44 cars & entry fee is $15. They will also be showing the movie, American Graffiti and will provide security for the cars while folks are in the theater watching the movie.  This is a benefit for the Orpheum - about 15 -20 members indicated they would be interested in this event & special invitation to participate.
~Tammy Gartrell announced that American Legion Post #256 would be helping with a BBQ lunch and car show at the VA campus for Veterans on July 4. They were hoping to have about 25-30 cars.   If you are interested in this event for Veterans at the VA - please contact Alan Leffen at 316-737-9360 or the TLC Unit at the VA at 316-685-2111 Ext 54685 or 52950.

~Steve advised the club that we had a fairly good turnout at the monthly breakfast on April 7, 2018.
 THIS

NEW BUSINESS
~~~SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY UPDATE:
*Steve gave a complete & detailed rundown of all the stats & proceeds for our recent 20th Annual Showdown in the Valley event held at the Casino on Saturday, 4/21/18.
There was good news & there was bad news - RAIN RAIN RAIN!!  The weather hurt the outside participation but everyone had a good time inside the Arena.  There were lots of good things and the best part is that we did make money and will be able to donate to our charities again for 2018.  We were most grateful for the grant we received from the City of Mulvane and will apply for it again next year.
*In 2017 we donated funds to Kansas Honor Flight, Toys for Tots, Mulvane Children's Fund, F.R.O.G. Diner, Mulvane High School and the City of Mulvane Park (rock sign) along with a donation to Cars for Charities.
*After a lengthy & good discussion on distribution of funds - with all members having a chance to voice their opinions and recommendations - it was decided & voted by the club to donate funds to the following charities for 2018 - Toys for Tots, Kansas Honor Flight, Mulvane Children's Fund, F.R.O.G. Diner at the 1st United Methodist Church, Mulvane High School, City of Mulvane Parks, Cars for Charity and Blue Sky Ranch.
*If you would like a complete list of the amount of funds that will be distributed to these charities we will discuss that again at the next meeting and be glad to let you know the specifics.
*It was decided that the date for next year's show would be 4/20/19 - however, after checking the calendar - realized that would be Easter Weekend and we did not think that would be good for participation.  Steve asked Sonya if she would check with the Casino for a different date.   It was a consensus that we did not want 4/13/19 as that is Tulip Time & NSRA Oklahoma City - and the first Saturday of May is the downtown Newton Show.   We will try for Saturday, 4/27/19 and will keep you advised of that date.
*Steve has already signed a contract with the Hampton Inn for 2019.   ALL ROOMS WERE SOLD ON "SHOW WEEKEND" THIS YEAR.  That is great news for us and for the Casino & Hotel.
*These are great stats as we apply for our Grant again next year!!
*A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE KANSAS STAR CASINO/HOTEL & ALL OF OUR MANY SPONSORS & FAITHFUL SUPPORTERS FOR ALL THEY HAVE DONE FOR OUR SHOW & CONSEQUENTLY OUR CHARITIES!!!   PLEASE
THANK THEM AND PATRONIZE THEIR BUSINESSES AS A SHOW OF GRATITUDE FOR THEIR SUPPORT.
If you know a business or anyone that would be interested in helping with the 2019 Show, let us know and we will begin contact with them now.
*After a short break & the Calendar project - the Show Committee will begin meeting, discussing and making plans for the 21st Annual Showdown in the Valley Car, Truck & Bike Show for April 2019!!
*AND - THANK YOU Marauders - it was wonderful to see so many orange shirts at work during the show.  We absolutely could not do this without each & every one of you - it was a proud day for the Marauders and we appreciate all of you for your generosity, time and work to make this show such a success so we can continue our mission of enjoying our hobby and supporting our communities, children and Veterans in so many ways.  YOU FOLKS ARE THE BEST!!!
~With all that said - it is now time to remind you that DUES are now being collected & due!   They are the same - $25 and we are collecting now.  You can pay at the next meeting or if you really want to get a jump on it, you can mail them to treasurer, Steve Nichols, P. O. Box 151, Mulvane, KS 67110.
~The next club dinner was discussed - it will be Sunday, 9/9/18 at 1:00PM at the Mulvane American Legion. It was decided that after Labor Day would work best and before we resume our monthly club breakfast.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE DINNER - IT WILL BE OLD FASHIONED FRIED/GRILLED CHICKEN, POTATO SALAD, BAKED BEANS, COLE SLAW & ALL THE TRIMMINGS.  ALSO - MEMBERS - ONE OF THE BEST PARTS...."POT LUCK DESSERTS".  Every member bring your favorite dessert to share !!!
~Next meeting will be ELECTION OF OFFICERS.   If you want to nominate a member for an office, PLEASE visit with them prior to the meeting to ensure they would be interested in holding an office.  Everyone please mark your calendar and attend this meeting.  These are the folks who will be leading your club - we need and want your input & support.
~CALENDAR PROJECT:
We need (2) members to Co-Captain putting together a 2019 Club Calendar.  Please contact an officer if you would be willing to assist with this project.  This is fun & everyone enjoys having their car on the calendar - plus, it provides additional funds for the club to donate or enjoy for an extra party or dinner.  Club officers will also help as well as other members.  We have all the contact information necessary - the biggest effort is just arranging for the photo shoots.  Thanks to club member Marsha Hills for offering to contact the advertisers to see if they would be willing to support this project.  We feel confident most of them will be willing to be part of the calendar once again.  Once the pictures are done & ad information received, Steve can get it all to Envision for printing.  We would like the calendars to be available at the October meeting - BUT WE NEED TO START NOW.  Full page ad is $150 and half page $75 - 2 businesses or even members could go together and purchase an ad for a specific month.  We can accomodate specific months as long as we can - first come first serve. We will be discussing at the JUNE meeting - come prepared to VOLUNTEER.  And let's think of some kool places for photos - IF our advertisers don't care where they are taken!   We are waiting to hear from YOU!!
~We will be discussing the purchase of a new 10 X 10 club tent to be used at Showdown for the gate area & any other event where we might need it.
~"CHECK DISTRIBUTION" TO OUR CHARITIES WILL BE THE JUNE MEETING!
~OUR JUNE MEETING IS VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND!!!   THANK YOU
