“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
DECEMBER-2016 & JANUARY 2017
HAPPY NEW YEAR MARAUDERS

~Meeting was held Thursday, 12/15/16 and called to order at 6:35PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion.  Thanks to the ladies of the Legion for another great taco & nacho dinner prior to the meeting.
~32 officers, members and guests were present.
~Steve Nichols gave the treasurer's report and advised the club that all bills/expenses have been paid in full and he had made 3 recent deposits.
~Steve announced that we still have 50 calendars to sell and/or hand out.   IF you have not picked up your calendars please make arrangements to do so by contacting Steve.  And if you would like additional copies, please let us know!  Remember, the funds and profits from the calendars allows us to help that many more charities and folks.
~As of this date the club has (12) members going to Starbird as a club.  There are several others entering the show in miscellaneous other displays.  Only members parking as a club are eligible for the club award.  Jack Marinelli's Roadster display has about 18-20 cars going in so far.  As of the meeting date, we are discussing the club stanchions which include the posts and drive on stanchions and how we can all share these to secure our displays. We have gotten all stanchions from past members/officers - however, if you have any or know of anyone who might still be storing some for the club, please let us know as soon as possible.  As a reminder to all of you - the Starbird-Devlin Show is January 20-22, 2017.   We have received word that the club move in time is Thursday, January 19 at 1:00PM at the overhead door on the Waterman side in Expo Hall.  If you are part of the Roadster display and have questions, please contact Jack - if you have questions about the club display, please contact me at any time.
~Kevin reminded the club that at the last meeting we did vote to donate $500 to the Starbird Show to allow the folks from the ARC to attend the show.  It was also announced that the Mulvane Children's Fund had contacted Kevin to see if the Marauders would be willing to donate additional funds to their organization for 2017.  We previously voted on and disbursed $500 to them.  After some discussion about this organization and the other charities that we provide donations for kids, a motion was by Ron Bailey and seconded by Dan Boyes to give the Mulvane Children's Fund an additional this year and then reassess this donation along with the charities that benefit from Showdown.  Donations to Toys for Tots, Kansas Honor Flight and Kansas Food Bank/Backpack Program all depend on the success of Showdown in the Valley.  It was mentioned and discussed that perhaps the donation to the Kansas FoodBank be decreased since they have a lot of community support and donations.  This would allow the club to help other groups. Discussion was tabled and will be resumed at the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
~At the November and December meetings the annual Christmas/Holiday party was discussed and decided to have after the holidays since planning was running late and everyone tends to be so busy prior to the holidays.
Kevin suggested we have the annual belated dinner and party in January - some dates were discussed with members and the Legion and the DINNER WILL BE SUNDAY, 1/29/17 AT 1:00PM AT THE AMERICAN LEGION.  Will be the same kind of dinner format we had in October.  The Ladies AuxiIlary will prepare and serve the meal.  We will be having an "Italian Dinner" - lasagna, chicken alfredo, salad, bread, water or tea and once again we will have a Potluck Dessert and ask members to bring their favorite dessert to share with everyone.  PLEASE CONTACT ANY OFFICER WITH YOUR RESERVATION BY JANUARY 25, 2017!!  As always, friends and family are welcome but they will need to pay $5 per plate for all ages. IF you are inviting a potential member - someone that is seriously considering joining the club, they are welcome as our guest!  Remember we will do a "White Elephant" Exchange as we have done in years past - this is not something we want you to buy - I'm sure all of you have some great treasures around the house or garage.  Always fun and provides a lot of laughs!!!
~Kevin announced that the city park sign that we previously voted on for $500 would be installed at Rockwood Park in Mulvane.  The club will be advised when the sign is set and finalzed.
~The club breakfast was Saturday, January 7, 2017 and then a garage crawl took place afterwards to Jack Marinelli and Marc Bitler's garages. We had a good turnout and as always the breakfast was great!   Watch the newsletter and announcements for the February breakfast at the Mulvane American Legion.  If you would be willing to include your garage for this event/activity, please let us know so we can get everyone on the list.  We will then advise those of you participating with your garages the order of the visits.
~THE JANUARY 19 CLUB MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

~We will start getting ready and making plans for our next Showdown in the Valley in June 2017 at the February meeting.  Please be willing to volunteer and help with this great show so we can continue to provide funds for those in need!

~If there is something you would like to see in the newsletter or have ideas for outings and/or events - please let us hear from you!

~With no further business, meeting was adjourned at 7:05PM.

NEXT MEETING IS THURSDAY, 2/16/17 - AT 6:30PM at the Mulvane American Legion.
