“SMOKE AND GAS”
FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS
FEBRUARY - 2016

~Meeting was held Thursday, 2/18/16 and called to order at 7:00PM by President Kevin Cardwell at the Mulvane American Legion.
~38 members and guests were present.
~Steve Nichols gave the recent treasurer's report.  Since the last meeting, $250 was paid for website development and $228 for vendor contract, receipt and t-shirt/trophy sponsor forms for Showdown in the Valley.  Only outstanding bill is for the remainder of the website development.
~ There was a presentation from Greg Clark for his company, Extreme Radiance Detailing from Hutchinson.  In addition to the presentation, he indicated he would be joining the club in June.
~Sam Hale and Ann Keefer attended the meeting and gave an update and presentation concerning Blacktop Nationals and River Festival.
Sam is a volunteer for River Fest and has agreed to head up the car show for 2016 and Ann is employed by River Festival.  As a clarification - River Festival does not own Blacktop Nationals - they are only coordinating the show along with their event.  They would welcome volunteers and invited the Marauders to participate and show their cars. He also discussed the security of the vehicles, the layout of the show and ask for any feedback from our members.

~Talked about the feedback on the new website and so far it has been very positive.  We still have a few bugs to workout, but rest assured we are working on that.  We still welcome your input!    Thanks Marauders!!

NEW BUSINESS
~THE NEXT MARAUDERS BREAKFAST WILL BE SATURDAY, 2/20/16, 8:30AM AT THE AMERICAN LEGION AND THE
MARCH BREAKFAST WILL BE 3/19/16!

~Fred Cook announced that there would be another Mulvane 4th of July parade.  Mark your calendars!!!
~There is going to be a "Battle of the Car Clubs" challenge at the Kansas International Dragway on March 12, 2016.  We know there are some great racers in the club to represent us and lots of members to cheer you on!!!  Gates open at Noon and we believe racing will go untill about 6:00PM.  We are still checking on specifics.  Here is the perfect opportunity for some bragging rights with our other car clubs in town.  Bring out the race car or hot rod and let's have some great fun with not just our own club but friends from the other area clubs.   Free vendor space for all clubs, $100 to the club with the most participants, Fastest Club gets facebook credit and bragging rights.  $25 to race and only $5 for spectators.  Let's join in the fun - the Marauders do a lot of great charity work and help others now it's time to show we have some "fast" cars too.
IF you plan on racing, please let Cheryl know so we have some idea how many will be representing us.  This is for our purposes only.  Racers will still need to "enter" at the track.  If you are going to spectate, we will set a place to meet & time to leave IF you want to cruise out together.  Otherwise, you can go on your own.  Racers can get together to go out as a group if you would like.
WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON ANY INFORMATION WE CAN FIND OUT!!

~It was Gerald Keck's birthday and his wife Jenean provided pie and ice cream for everyone.  Happy Birthday Gerald and thank you Jenean for the special treat!!!!!

~We have another great opportunity to support the Mulvane American Legion and get together and have a good dinner.  The Ladies Auxiliary is having a "STEAK FEED & PIE AUCTION" on Saturday, 3/5/19 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM.  They will be serving an 8oz sirloin steak, baked potato, salad & roll for just $10.00 per person.  Cannot beat a deal like this one - another fun opportunity to have a nice dinner with your club members.  They are asking everyone to RSVP BY MARCH 1st so they can purchase enough steaks for everyone who wants to eat & participate but NOT purchase more than what they will need.  If you are interested please RSVP to Tracy Kinnick at ttkinnick@yahoo.com or 316-347-6305!!

ON THE LIGHT SIDE smiley
*A father buys a lie detector robot that slaps people when they lie.
He decides to test it on his family at dinner one evening.
The father asks his son what he did that afternoon after school.
The son says, "I did some homework."
The robot slaps the son!!
The son says, "OK OK, I was at a friend's house watching movies."
Dad asks, "What movie did you watch?"
Son says, "Toy Story."
The robot slaps the son yet again.
Son says, "OK OK, we were watching X rated movies."
Dad says, "WHAT????? At your age I didn't even know what an X rated movie was all about."
The robot slaps the dad.
Mom starts laughing and says, "Well, he certainly is your son!!"
The robot slaps the mom.
