“SMOKE AND GAS” FROM THE
MULVANE MARAUDERS

MARCH 2015

~Meeting was held Thursday, 3/19/15 and called to order at 7:05PM by President Kevin Cardwell.
~About 31 members present.
~New - 'old' - member Bob Barr was introduced to the club.  He joined about a year ago but this is the first meeting he has attended.   Welcome to the club!
~Max Ayers gave the treasurer's report and advised that he had paid our Hagerty insurance in the amount of $350 and a check to the State of Kansas in the amount of $165 for our LLC initial fee.  He also paid Kasey McDowell for the webpage.  No other outstanding bills at this time.  We should be in a good financial position for the upcoming Showdown in the Valley car show.
~Per Kevin Cardwell - the club is now officially LLC - the official name is Mulvane Marauders LLC - we are a "limited liability corporation" and protected against others who might seek to hold us as individual members responsible in the event of a mishap or accident.  We will file an annual report along with an annual fee of approximately $45.  Kevin has been designated as the 'agent' for the club.
~Club breakfast was held on Saturday, 3/14/15 with about 10 members showing up for a good breakfast & great fellowship.  We will be having another breakfast on Saturday, 4/11/15 at the Wazup Restaurant in Derby at 8:30AM.  This will be the last one since car show season is starting up but we will begin again in the fall - watch for details.
~ UPDATE ON KANSAS STAR/SHOWDOWN IN THE VALLEY
We should have a signed contract soon along with flyers, registration forms and information about awards/trophies.
We are looking for members to step up and be a committe chair/captain & we need members to sign up to help on these committees.  So far - we have Carl & John Fry for Gate Captains, Cheryl Boyes for Merchandise Captain, Ron Stalbaum as Door Prize/Donations Captain, Harry Funke as the Vendor Booth Captain. & Jack Marinelli are the Judging Captain.  We still need someone to volunteer to be the Registration Captain!!   If you would be willing to do Registration please contact an officer ASAP.   And if you are willing to serve and help with one of these committees please contact us or the person in charge of that committee.
Kevin is encouraging EVERYONE to find door prizes, gift certificates and any other free items to give away.  If you know of someone or a business associate/co-worker that would be willing to be a t-shirt or trophy sponsor, please let us know.
Kevin & the Group are meeting about once a week to continue work on show plans and logistics.
As of now, there is room for about 100 cars inside the arena at $25 each.  These participants must pre-register and enter prior to the show.
Marauders will park in the outdoor parking lot & NOT be eligible for awards - they will display their cars only.
Casino will provide posters, flyers & the forms.  As car show season approaches we are asking all members to hand out flyers at the shows they attend.
There will be about 24 (10 X 10) vendor booths to sell at $150 each.  We would welcome anyone that would like to promote their business - no food vendors or alcohol  or anyone reprenting another Casino allowed.  The Arena fee will a $0 charge to the club.
SHOW WILL BE SATURDAY, 6/20/15 FROM 10:00AM TO 5:00PM WITH AWARDS BEGINNING AT 5:00PM
Vendors and pre-registered cars will enter on Friday, 6/19/15.  We have the Arena all day.
We will have approximately 16 judging classes with 2+ trophies per class along with the Best of Show and a few other top
specialty awards.  We will need about 60-70 awards and about 50 sponsors with donations at least $25 or more to support these. Kevin is looking at and pricing acrylic awards similar to those at Starbird-Devlin.
The show will be billed as (with changes still anticipated) as the "Kansas Star Casino presents the Marauders Showdown in the Valley Car Show".   We want to get detailed information to Mike Berry and Jack Oliver as soon as possible.
KEEP WATCHING FOR MORE UPDATED INFORMATION AS WE MOVE FORWARD WITH SHOW PLANS!!
~If you have questions or concerns about the show,  please contact any of the officers.

NEW /OLD BUSINESS & MEMBER DISCUSSION:
WE STILL NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS PROJECT - PLEASE CONSIDER BEING THE CHAIR OR CO-CHAIR OF THIS MONEY MAKING PROJECT FOR THE CLUB.
~CALENDAR FOR 2016 -- Kevin once again discussed having a 2016 calendar like we did a couple of years ago.  This was a great money maker for the club and members seem generally in favor of it again.  Great fun to see members cars on this calendar.  Kevin announced that Don Heersche has agreed to 'help' put some photo shoots together.  It would be great if he could get a couple, three more members to help with this project.  We have some super locations that we can utilize - like Jack's place, Steve Dale's, Max Ayers and even the graffiti under Kellogg.   If you would be willing to volunteer and help the club with this please contact Kevin or one of the officers.  We will need good quality photos for this project and someone with a camera to lend a hand in getting these photos taken.

~Upcoming car shows were announced including a show at Campus High School from noon to 3:00PM on 3/28/15.  Another show was announced for Saturday 3/21/15 from 10-2PM at the new O'Reillys Grand Opening in Haysville.

*Reaching the end of a job interview, the HR officer asks a young engineer fresh out of the Massachusetts Instiute of Technology, "And what starting salary are you looking for and have in mind?"  The young engineer replies, "In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package.  After hearing that the interviewer inquires, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical & dental coverage, company matching retirement fun to 50% of salary & a company care leased every 2 years - say like a red Corvette?"  The young grad sits up straight and says, "WOW!!! Are you kidding?"  "Yeah, but hey, you started it!!!!!"  Welcome to the real work world........  Ha
